Yes, just as with cable and satellite TV, there is a monthly fee. XM and Sirius charges $12.95 per month. (Prices subject to change). These fees are paid directly to the satellite radio companies. One low monthly fee gets you all of their programming including on-line streaming at no extra charge.

Are there different programming "packages" with different rates?
Yes, XM offers a family plan with up to 4 additional radios for only $6.99 each per month. Sirius also offers multi-subscription plans up to 3 additional radios for the same price of $6.99 each per month.

Does the programming have commercials?
XM and Sirius offers 69 commercial-free music channels with genres like: Rock, Hits, Urban (Hip-Hop), Decades (40's through 90's), Jazz, Blues, Classical, Christian, Latin and more.

How's the sound?
Being a digital satellite system, both XM and Sirius are able to offer exceptional sound that's CD-like, without the static and interference that frequents traditional radio.

Is the reception affected by things like heavily wooded areas? What about tunnels?
Things like highway overpasses and tress won't usually cause any problems, but there are some rare obstructions that no satellite signal can penetrate.
